How many guests you want your special cake to feed. Consider how best describes the cake you are looking for. For example a "Blue Parrot wearing a Top Hat" is a fairly conclusive description, however if you wanted something more elaborate, like this lobster and champagne cake, then a simple written description, diagram or photo would be essential.

Too much detail can detract from the impact of the cake and can lead to misunderstandings and mistakes. Keep it quite simple. Ttry to be decisive at your point of order. Making alterations after ordering can be costly and causes misunderstandings.
